Introduction, Week 1

Hello! My name is Jae O and I am a Psychology/Pre-nursing  major at OU. I plan to go to the nursing school after graduation and become a nurse in the future. Currently, I am enrolled in many classes because I need to graduate in the Spring! I am so glad that I will be graduating college in four years. I am in Human Physiology, Psychology capstone, women's gender studies, world music, and industrial organization psychology. Some of theses classes are requirements and some of them are just for elective. The class that is going to be most challenging will be Human physiology. Hopefully, I will be able to finish strong.

I am also a Barista and barista trainer at Starbucks.
I enjoy working at Starbucks and the best part is that workers get free coffee! I love working for a company who is innovative. Starbucks takes up a big part of life because I work about 25-30 hours per week.
For hobbies, I do a lot of things. I love listening and jamming out on my favorite music. I play the bass guitar and piano, so I love playing instruments too. I also love going on food adventures. I enjoy trying new food and going to local restaurants. There are so many kinds of food out there that I've never even tried before and my goal is to find a place to eat in Oklahoma. So far, my favorite place is waffle champion in OKC. They serve liege waffles, which is a authentic Belgium waffles. They serve waffles with bacon, egg, or any fruits. Another unique place is a cafe called all about cha. This cafe serves many different kind of tea and also offer breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There are two different locations in metro and I love studying at all about cha. Below is a selfie of me at all about cha.
I don't really read books other than the bible. I enjoy watching movies and my favorite type of genre is romance and romantic comedy. I don't really have a favorite movie because I have so many!
Well... this is pretty much it for me! :)

  1. Jae (what a beautiful name that is!),

that's a pretty big course load! You are ambitious, I like that! I wish you the best of luck in all your classes. All that on top of a 30 hour work week? You must be exhausted by the end of the day! I am also a coffee lover. I love the smell and taste of it.

Food adventures! Now that's my kind of hobby. I've never heard of that waffle place - I will definitely have to check it out. You should try Saffron Cafe on campus corner. They serve shawarma, which I had when I was in Israel (although I think it's served all over the Mediterranean area). It's basically like a pita! But their bread is so soft and fluffy. Very delicious. Also GoGo in Moore (and OKC) has AMAZING sushi and hibachi! And if you like burgers, Tucker's Onion Burgers in OKC is one of the best burgers I've ever had! I could suggest so many food places, although you've probably been to a lot of them already!

  2. Hi Jae! First, thanks for all your hard work at Starbucks! I feel like every student at OU should thank the campus baristas for all the coffee and complex orders they make :) What class are you taking in WGS? I'm currently in Social Justice and Social Change, and I took Human Trafficking and Women and the Law last semester. WGS classes always teach me amazing things. Human physiology sounds like so much fun! I took a physiology course in high school and I really enjoyed it, though I don't know how different it is in college. Best of luck on your studies, and I hope you get all the sleep you need this semester!

  3. Oh, how cool that you are taking world music this semester: I am guessing the musical traditions of India and South Asia might be part of that class, yes? If you listen to some great Indian music that is available at YouTube, let me know so that I can include it in the class announcements. That would be great!!! And I don't think I have known anybody before who worked at Starbucks: that is really neat! There is a Starbucks very near where my parents live and they go to Starbucks all the time there, and they know all the baristas who work there! I drink a lot of coffee but since I work from home, I just make coffee at home... and it's almost (ALMOST) as good as at Starbucks! But not quite! :-)

  4. Jae, we seem to have a lot in common! I am also a pre-nursing student and I will be attending the Nursing program at OU this fall if I get accepted. I LOVE trying new foods and It is also one of my goals to try every single local restaurant in Norman before I move out. I took World music over the winter break online. I did not do too well thought because I was traveling to India meanwhile and I could not find a good balance between having fun and finishing assignments.
I hope you do well in all your classes this semester. Good luck with the Nursing Program. :)

  5. Hi Jae!! Wow you're going to be super busy this semester. My roommate is a pre-nursing major as well so I got to hear all about her physiology and anatomy classes, which are not easy so good luck!! I love eating at local restaurants too. Have you ever been to Syrup in Norman or The Diner? They are both on Main Street and are great places to eat.

  6. Hey Jae! Congrats on graduating this Spring. You are almost there! If you want to try out a cool place to eat then you should try this place called "Meers". It is about 1 hour and 30 minutes away from Norman, but it servers the best burgers in the state in my opinion. They use real fresh Longhorn mean so that is always a plus for a sooner! I am sure that you would like it there too.

  7. How lucky! I love Starbucks. It seems like that wouldn't be just a job. It could be fun too. I am also taking women and genders studies this semester! What professor do you have? I love movies too. It is hard to pick just one, but right now I am in love with Ride Along with Kevin Hart. Actually, I really just love to watch all of his movies. He is too funny! Good Luck this semester, and also with graduating!

  8. Hi Jae! That is so cool that you work at Starbucks! I applaud you for working 25-30 hours a week and taking on a full course load! You are one busy lady! I have always wished that I learned how to play the piano. It is such a beautiful instrument! Romance and romantic comedies are also my favorite genres of movies! I am a sap for a love story and when laughing is involved, even better!

  9. Hi Jae, good luck with Human Physiology! I have a lot of friends who have taken that class and say it’s one of the most difficult classes they have taken. I’m sure you’ll do great though. I’ll be taking it sometime in the upcoming semesters. It’s cool that you work at Starbuck’s although, to be honest, I’ve never even been inside a Starbuck’s. Good luck with your semester!

  10. Hi Jae! I am really jealous that you work at Starbucks! I think if I had a job other than the Huff, Starbucks would have to be it. Being a barista is on my bucket list. This all about cha plaice you speak of....I have to find it! I am really interested to know what it's like. I am always looking for new study places to go to. I will go and try it out once I get back from India! Best of luck on the rest of the semester!

  11. Hi Jae, first of all congratulations on graduating this spring. It seems like you are really busy this semester but at least you can have free coffee from Starbucks. I mean that has to be a shining star when you just feel like there is no time to even breathe. I’m so jealous. Well, good luck this semester and don’t get too overwhelmed.

  12. Jae, it sounds like you have a really busy schedule! Congrats on graduating in spring! I'm also going to be graduating in May and I'm so excited. Where are you going to nursing school? It's really cool that you play multiple instruments. My sister plays the guitar, but I can not play an instrument to save my life. Good luck with everything in the future!

  13. Hello, Jae! Your class schedule sounds very interesting, like the kinds of classes that I would like to take. One of my best friends took industrial organization psychology last semester and loved it. I am jealous that you work for Starbucks, because I have always wanted to try my hand at being a barista. I can empathize with your work schedule, though. I too work in the food industry 25-30 hours a week (when I am not at speech tournaments) and I know how exhausting it can be. Also, I really want to go to All About Cha, it sounds interesting and I really love different kinds of teas! Congratulations on making it this far here at OU, I hope that the rest of this semester goes well for you and that graduation is amazing!

  14. Hi Jae!! I think it is so fantastic that you can manage working 25-30 hours a week while also being in various science courses! I cannot imagine how you find time for yourselves. I love All About Cha! It is so tasty and they have such good macaroons. I never knew you could play guitar since I have known you from high school, but that is such a great talent to have! I wish you all the best for the rest of your semester Jae!!
